Edwin Onkendi MD, FACS
Edwin Onkendi, MD, FACS is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has pursued additional training and certification in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine, including board certification through the American Academy of Procedural Medicine (AAOPM).
Dr. Onkendi serves as an Associate Professor of surgery at Texas Tech University HSC, Lubbock, where he specializes in minimally invasive surgery, as well as general surgery with a specialty focus on hepatobiliary and pancreatic procedures since 2016. He is actively involved in clinical practice, research, resident training and the development of national and international treatment guidelines in his surgical field, with numerous publications to his credit.
He was recognized in Lubbock Magazine as a Doctor of Distinction and one of the Top Doctors in Lubbock in 2019, based on a survey of local peers and referring providers.
In addition to his academic and surgical practice, Dr. Onkendi is the medical director of Glo & Spa-rkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. In this role, he oversees the medical aspects of the practice and ensures adherence to high standards of safety, quality, and ethical care in aesthetic and wellness medicine. With over 10 years of experience in complex surgical procedures as well as aesthetic procedures and treatments like injectables, lifting and contouring procedures, fat reduction and skin tightening treatments for face and body, this husband-and-wife team provides the best available expertise and staff supervision. Many medical spa practices lack a readily and regularly available and visible medical director as required by law. Dr. Onkendi’s regular presence sets Glo & Spa-rkle apart and ensures the team at Glo & Spa-rkle is always delivering the best and safest available appropriately supervised aesthetic and wellness care, including integrating use ultrasound guided injectable treatments and training of staff to ensure precision and safety with injectable treatments. With additional experience helping other injectors with injectable complications, Dr. Onkendi and his team have expertise in treating such complications and how to prevent them.
He also oversees regular aesthetic CME education and ongoing learning for staff to stay up to date on latest innovations and research.
